So I woke up around 8-ish this morning, and a few minutes later Ken started calling me about being bored, and then he dragged me out to get breakfast with him. We went to Covel; all the breakfast menus are about the same in all the dining halls I think.
Afterwards we went to get in line to get these wristbands for Bruin Bash; the blue one's for the concert and the yellow one's for the dance afterwards. While we were in line, we met this girl named Crystal, who apparently Ken remembered from some Japanese scholarship thing, and her roommate Denise, who apparently went to Banning and knew Frank (she said his dad's always trying to set him up with his students hahaha)!
We headed over to Sunset to look up my classes (apparently Crystal lives there too), and I borrowed a sweater from Ken cuhs it was really cold and windy. Afterwards, Ken, Crystal, and I went looking around campus to find where our classes were (it got reeeally hot around this time -___-;). My LA Cluster lecture and discussion are right in Covel and De Neve, but I couldn't even appreciate that fact until I realized just how far the other ones were! We were walking for at least 15+ minutes; it's like I'm walking from my house to North (or maybe a little further) for just one of my classes! I guess it doesn't seem as bad when I put it like that, but still! I've never had to walk that far for just a single class!
We saw this and I was like LOLWTF. But apparently it's a movie poster hahaha. I wonder if anyone calls that number. xD
Afterwards we made our way back to the dorms area, and Ken wanted to meet up with some of his friends for lunch, and I was still pretty full from breakfast and didn't want to use up another meal swipe just to sit in there, so I headed back to my room. The door was open when I got there, and my last roommate was moving in! (: Her name is Madison.
I had a Work Study informational meeting at 1pm, so I didn't stay in my room for long. I actually got there 15 minutes early, and good thing I did! The room was pretty much packed when I got there, and there were only a few seats open! They ran out of handouts a few minutes later too. When they finished and I tried to leave, there were soooo many people just standing outside because they couldn't get in; I could barely push my way out! I guess I'm going to have to get into a habit of getting to places early, which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing; actually it's a little nice to be among people who are on time for a change haha.
They had a lot of booths set up in front of Covel Commons; I spun this wheel of fortune-like thing, landed on blue, and got this spray-on hand sanitizer thing lol. I kind of wanted to land on yellow and get pom poms hahah. There was also this money grab thing, and if you got $100 you'd win an iPad.
Ken called me a little later and asked if he and his friends could come over since I guess they were really bored lol. Garrett and Andy; apparently they all met during orientation. They seemed pretty nice. There was really nothing to do at my place though, so we pretty much spent the whole time on youtube and addictinggames.com lol.
Afterwards Andy (Ken's Andy lol) said something about a barbecue, so we all headed out with him. People were passiing out Prezel M&Ms so I got one. Tastes like the peanut butter ones, I think lol.
UCLA's pools are so nice! I missed it in the picture, but there are these super high diving blocks at this pool; like, I'm talking a story-high!
We went into the Recreation Center, and they had like two more pools! Andy found his people, and I guess they were people from his church, and we just kind of left him there cuhs we weren't really invited hahah. But I guess he left them a few minutes later anyway, cuhs he caught up to his lol. It was around 4:30pm at this point, so I just headed back to Hitch.
We all met in the D quad at 5pm to get some dinner together. I was standing there with my roommates, staring at my RA Mark because suddenly he looked reeeally familiar. And then I whispered to Alyssa, "Omg, you know who he looks like? That guy from Ratatouille!" (reference) and I guess all my roommates listened in because they all laughed and said they thought the same thing; Devin added that she had even told him so earlier! She even made me tell him too:
Devin: You know what Annie just said? Mark: What? Devin: She just whispered to me 'You know who he looks like?' and tell him! Me: ... Have you seen Ratatouille? Mark: Oh my God.
Hahaha so then he went ahead and just announed it to the rest of the group that apparently he looked a lot like Linguini hahaha. Anyway, we headed over to the dining halls for dinner, but the lines were so long, we just grabbed some sandwiches at the Bruin Cafe. They were pretty good too! Afterwards we headed over to Drake Stadium for the concert. (:
We were actually there at 5:30pm, and the concert doesn't even start until 8pm, so we were waiting quite a while!
They had a DJ going on, so I didn't mind too much just listening to the music; he was really good too, but I guess he got kind of tired towards the end and was just playing songs one after the other lol.
I kind of wish they got artists that I know better; we had The Cataracs, Ying Yang Twins, and Travie McCoy performing. It kind of felt like a college version of our high school assemblies; it's so weird though, how nothing was censored at all. They kept saying "fuck" like every other sentence, and no one cared at all. They even played "Fuck You" by Cee Lo Green (the original version, not the "forget you" version) lol.
Ying Yang Twins came on after Cataracs, and asdf crunk rap. I'm not a fan at all; I'm kind of used to it just cuhs that's all they play at North's dances, but it's pretty unbearable when it's this loud. I guess my roommates feel about the same about it; Alyssa was even covering her ears at some points hahaha.
Travie McCoy. (: Actually, I just found out from Rodal's friend who was sitting next to us that he's not even the guy singing, he's the guy rapping in "Billionaire". Which was kind of like disappointing lol. But it still wasn't too bad, definitely better than Ying Yang Twins haha. Anyhow, my camera died so I wasn't able to get the whole song.
Afterwards we all split up; Alyssa and Rodal headed back to our room to grab their jackets, and Madison had to get in line to get a yellow bracelet since they ran out earlier. Devin, Natalie, and I headed in. And. It was pretty lame; it was literally a tennis court, lights, and music. And a lot of strangers. Which isn't exactly my idea of a good time. I still stayed there for almost two hours since I didn't want to just head back by myself, but asdf. Devin and her friend Kendall kept leading us into the center of the crowd where we could barely even move. Natalie kept saying what terrible music it was, and I didn't really think anything of it, cuhs it's exactly the type of music they play at all North dances. This guy that Kendall was dancing with tried to pair me with this weird short guy, and I was just like ... OKAY THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN and just looked away. And then the guy just kept dancing next to me and it was awkwardddd lol. This creepy guy asked Natalie to dance, and she told him she had a boyfriend (she doesn't, but she doesn't grind on guys), and he was really persistent, and was like "Is he cute?" It's times like these that I'm kind of glad I'm not that pretty so creepy guys don't bug me hahah. We eventually broke away from Devin and her friends and went towards the edge of the crowd. Alyssa, Rodal, and Madison never came back.
Anyhow, Natalie, Nora (another one of Devin's friends who just kind of stuck with us after we broke away) finally left after a while. It was a good experience though, cuhs I found out Natalie's not going to lead me wrong. In fact, I'm even more comfortable with my roommates since I think they're all pretty conservative, Devin maybe less so, but I'm not holding anything against her for it lol. Back in the room, we were talking about the concert, and Natalie and Madison mentioned that some people were smoking pot right next to us, and how it smelled terrible, and I suddenly remembered this distinct vomit-y smell (okay, maybe it doesn't actually smell like vomit, but it's definitely a smell that I associate with vomit, probably cuhs it makes me want to hurl), and I was like ... omg! I smell that scent everywhere! ... And that's how I learned what pot smells like. God I'm so sheltered lol.
