The last time I came here was so many years ago, with Mom, Andy, and Lawrence, I think. It's so weird how things have changed; there's this huge parking structure now! And the trams have doors!
I dunno what happened, but Dan got this huge rip on the inside of his pant leg, so we waited while he went to buy some shorts. He re-emerged in a completely new outfit, and not shorts but sweatpants (which we all thought was a terrible idea lol). Mom asked him what he did with his shirt, and he said he threw it away too since it was kind of old anyway. Lol, white people.
Goofy was standing in front of a store, scratching at the window, which I thought was cute ... and then I realized that Goofy's meant to be more of a human than a dog, since they have Pluto for that lol.
It was amazing; all the lines were so short! We pretty much only waited 20 minutes for all the rides (except Space Mountain, which I attribute to the fact that it broke down, and then everyone came all at once).
This is in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and those lights are the Blue Bayou restaurant. We were seriously going to have dinner there, but when we came back to make reservations later, they were completely booked. ): I think my ideal date would go something along the lines of amusement park + romantic Blue-Bayou-esque restaurant haha.
Anyhow, the ride was really different too; they had made all these updates to correspond with all the PotC films, and I just didn't think it was as good as it used to be. ):
Terrible picture hahah. I didn't realize it yet, but my aunt's not a rollercoaster person, which sucks! You totally miss out on all kinds of fun. We went on stuff like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and she was just lying flat against Uncle with her eyes closed lol.
While we were in line for Splash Mountain, I noticed this ride, and I really don't think I've ever seen it before! It was a really simple ride, a lot like the Alice in Wonderland ride.
I suggested we get some churros; when we were little, Mom bought some for us too.
We went to the River Belle restaurant for lunch like we always did, and I was so so so disappointed.
It was completely different. Mom looked over the menu and whatever she used to order for us wasn't there anymore; all they served were mediocre sandwiches and salads. It was terrible. ):
The Small World ride seemed a lot longer than I remembered, but Mom said it was about the same. I liked how they incorporated all these Disney characters into the various regions of the world.
We didn't go on the Teacups, but I took a picture anyway. We lined up for Alice in Wonderland, just across from it, and I was surprised by how little I could remember of it; it's really been so long!
... Lol, Eva's bra strap says 'Have a fun!'
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
The afternoon parade wasn't as good either. ): I remember before they would have all these parade floats, with all kinds of dancers in the street. There would be streamers and confetti, and there would be such variety! Today's thing was like some cheap High School Musical performance or something. It was really short too.
It started repeating after a few minutes, so we just browsed around the stores.
Mom got this shirt lol.
A barbershop quartet! ♥
Autopia; Mom really wanted to ride in my car for some reason, and I wouldn't let her and she got mad at me hahah. She ended up squishing in with Dan lol.
Afterwards, we headed for Space Mountain, which had the longest wait time yet, 50 minutes (which really isn't so bad if you put it into perspective). It's funny because for the longest time we've been calling the Matterhorn Bobsled 'Space Mountain,' and then learning the right name, and then forgetting it again. Anyhow, there was an arcade on the ground level, and this guy was playing DDR, and his feet were moving so fast. It reminded me of that guy who reminded me of Phillip that Mom and I saw years ago in Palm Springs when we had a swim meet over there and had to stay in a hotel.
It's a terrible picture lol. I'm becoming less and less photogenic.
We ended up going outside the park to the ESPN Center in Downtown Disney for dinner. They took so long serving us our food, and we missed the fireworks (lucky there's another performance by the river though). :\ After half an hour, Mom called over the waitress and complained about how everyone in the room arrived after we did, but we were the only ones who hadn't been served yet (she was so intimidating; I was pretty scared haha). They literally brought us our food two minutes later. We also got their 35% Employee Discount which was awesome.
When the show first started, I was so disappointed. It was just a lot of projections on sprayed water, which is pretty cool the first time you see it, but all it really is is laziness and a lack of imagination. The vast majority of the show was just a compilation of different clips from different films, and I just felt like the quality of everything had slipped so much.
And then Peter Pan and Captain Hook's ship showed up. And I was just so excited; I couldn't take my eyes off it. I suddenly remembered what a huge crush I had on Peter Pan when I was little, and how I wished he was real, and it just sparked something in me. ♥
Dan didn't go with us to watch Fantasmic cuhs he was so exhausted. It's funny; when we found him, he was asleep on a bench, and his head kept nodding up and down haha.
We got home and I had a blister on my foot lol. My ethernet cord had arrived (priority shipping ♥), and I now have internet in Mom's room! I spent the rest of the night watching Peter Pan (or not really watching it, since I was on the computer all night; it was just kind of playing in the background lol).
I've been reading some of Noey's writing again lately, and I felt like writing. Because I have so much negative eeeenergy in meeeeeee. This is based off her fruit flies format. Kind of.
neverland;
-- pixie dust. When I was little I used to dream about flying. Do you remember when all we needed were happy thoughts and pixie dust to soar? I wanted to be Wendy. I wanted to be swept away by a mysterious boy who picked sword fights and taunted crocodiles. Now that I think of it, Peter Pan has Asian eyes.
-- in retrospect. Did you know they never kiss? I'm keeled over on my bed thinking of nothing, and trying to think of nothing, and you know what? Maybe I had it all wrong. If they tell you not to think of elephants, you'll think of elephants, but I'll think of you. Their faces come close, but they never touch. I'm rambling now but it's all unraveling anyway. He never grows up, and you're still a little boy.
-- straight on `til morning. So go on and kiss your tiger lilies and I'll kiss the sky. You can keep your neverlands but you'll keep me closer. These memories will sear into your chest and I hope they tear you apart. But me, I'm done playing with your wooden swords and riding on your fancies. And this time when I grow up, I won't be back.
