2O9.

We have a review session for physics today, so I drove over to North around 11-ish. There were all these tables with tropical decor set up; apparently Polynesian Club's having some dinner-entertainment-type event going on later in the evening.

Mas bought some pizza and soda, and we looked over some problems. He passed back our MC and FRQ finals that we took on Tuesday; I was really reluctant to look at my score, since I know I did horribly. And I did, but I did so much better than the rest of the class! I got a 41 on the multiple choice, and while that doesn't even begin to compare with Preston's 130-something, and so on, I beat Bea's 40. And then I got a 26 on the FRQ, beating Bea's 19, and Ned's 18. Ken and Preston scored in the thirties, and like, half the class scored under 5! Holy shit!

Mas was talking to us about torque (I think), and he was going to do a demonstration with his favorite mug, a pencil, and a box of matches; when he got the matches we were all like ... whoa there Mas! And we said something about him burning the building down and killing us all. And then Mas said something along the lines of that he'd blame it on us, and that he just stepped outside for a second and we burned the whole place down. Hahah idek, it was really funny when he said it. xD So basically, he tied one end of a string to the mug, and one end to the box of matches, and he held it all about five feet off the ground, and held the end with the matches, and had the string on the other end slinging over the pencil. And then he asked us if he let go of the matches, if we thought the box of matches would spin around the pencil fast enough so that the mug wouldn't fall on the floor and break. And we were all like ... uhhhhh are you sure you want to do this Mas? And then he let go and the box of matches went spinning around the pencil and the mug stopped about a foot above the ground! ... And then it was too heavy and the matches slipped and the mug fell on the ground (but it didn't break) LOL. We were all pretty impressed, but he said that he's done it in the past, and he's broken a lot of mugs before. xD;

The scholarship dinner for that Toyota Scholarship I won was tonight, so we got all dressed up, and the parents and I went to the Marriott Hotel. I totally thought it was a dinner just for the Toyota Scholarship recipients, but apparently there's this whole group of Torrance Education Foundation Scholarships, and there were all these people and all these recipients! There were so many people from our school receiving scholarships too, and Mom and I looked at the program, and it looked like they picked maybe one or two students from each of the Torrance high schools to receive each scholarship. Margy also won the Toyota Scholarship, and was sitting right next to me at the same table. All of the counselors were here, plus the principle, and some teachers (I saw Hendricks when he congratulated Margy and apparently didn't see me cuhs he just walked off afterwards LOL awhm) I saw Ken's name in the program too, and then I texted him to see if he was here, but apparently certain recipients hadn't even been notified yet, and they'd have another separate dinner for them.

The food was okay; it was bread and salad, followed by the main course consisting of chicken (it was really dry), steak, and mashed potatoes (and some scattered vegetables on the side), followed by a chocolate cake. I ate Mom's cake lol.

Dad brought his camera and took all these pictures; I always get a little embarrassed when my parents take pictures, because they go so overboard lol! I mean, I appreciate it later (especially now, since I use them for my blog), but I feel so awkward with Dad taking so many pictures, and directing me to sit here and then there, and with all these people staring lol. But yeah, look at Margy on the right lolll. xD
